My name is Claire and I am the lady behind the letters.

Being from the Gulf Coast I speak with a strong Southern accent. I support our progressive, democratic world and the morals we stand for as we stumble to save it.  I have an affinity for vintage culture.  I enjoy listening to others’ stories and reflecting back on life and the lessons we have or will learn . I like to write. I am most proud of making people feel stronger and showing depth of heart as a shelter from the storms of life. I believe in correcting injustice.

I love to make people laugh. Philosophically I subscribe to a very simple theory: follow the golden rule.  The thing I remember most often is that I am privileged to be able to live a free and authentic life.  Free to be myself. Remembering the value of what I am grateful for, supporting others on their own journey.

Of the most interesting people I know, the real authenticity that cannot be duplicated or manufactured helped me come up with “The Peculiar Ink”. A somewhat stigmatic term that has association with “not fitting in" -- my art is for those who have ever felt the same.

The journey to professional freelance hand lettering began in 2016 and with patience and persistence I have become dedicated to the lost art. I enjoy creating a timeless and elegant aesthetic while at the same time maintaining a sense of surprise. I like good vibes. Working with fun people who don't take life too seriously (but know the project is always done best when done right) is my passion.

I strongly believe in living and letting live.  If we work together we will enjoy a collaborative approach to the process; for those who prefer, I am always happy to take the creative helm of the ship and guide us until we find the right match for the project in mind.

Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
’Cause there’s a million things to be
You know that there are

And if you want to live high, live high
And if you want to live low, live low
’Cause there’s a million ways to go
You know that there are
